Itinerary

Hoi An Cooking Lesson & Food Tour by Bike 1 Day

After hotel pickup in Hoi An in the morning ( 9.00am ) or afternoon ( 2.00PM), follow your guide on an easy bike ride through the countryside to a local village. Stop for a bowl of traditional cao lau, composed of noodles, pork and fresh vegetables. You’ll appreciate how the noodles are made, with local sticky rice soaked in water from the Ba Le well, the oldest in Hoi An and believed to hold the purest water.

Next, you’re welcomed into the home of a local family for your small-group cooking lesson. Discover how to make a regional specialty called white rose cakes: light and fluffy dumplings that form the crown jewel of the town’s culinary culture.

Filtered water, also drawn from the Ba Le well, is mixed with rice paste to form the airy dough. Learn to roll and cut the dough, and wrap it around a filling such as minced shrimp with spices, then shape each dumpling into the form of a rose. Finally, dunk the dumplings into a sauce made of shrimp broth, hot chilies, lemon and sugar, then enjoy.

Hop back on your bike for the short ride to Cam Nam and enjoy additional dishes to complete your lunch or dinner. Bicycle around local streets for about two hours, stopping at several food vendors to sample local specialties. Try banh dap, rice crepes served with a fermented shrimp sauce, and finish with che bap, a soupy pudding made with corn and coconut milk and served in a small bowl topped with coconut syrup.

When you’ve had your fill, your 4-hour culinary tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.
Note: The mostly flat bicycle route covers a distance of approximately 3 miles (5 km) total.
