This Melbourne tour is a great introduction to a beautiful city. Start the day heading northeast of the city and tour through ‘Little Italy’ with its plethora of restaurants and boutique shops. See the exquisite architecture of Melbourne University and the Royal Exhibition Buildings before making a brief photo stop at St Patrick’s Cathedral. Spend time at the Fitzroy Gardens and the highlight of the morning – a guided walk through some of Melbourne’s best arcades and laneways with the chance to enjoy the cosmopolitan atmosphere and enjoy a coffee break.
Phillip Island is a treasure trove of Australian wildlife; seals, koalas, kangaroos, wallabies, birdlife and penguins! Visit Churchill Island where you can explore a working farm and the Phillip Island Nature Park. At the Koala Conservation Centre, look for koalas in their natural habitat. Every evening at dusk the Little Penguins come from the sea at Phillip Island, before sunset, head to the Penguin Parade where you can wander through the “Penguin Experience” exhibit to learn more about them. Next, take a seat in the Penguins Plus premium viewing area and watch from an elevated boardwalk as they waddle cautiously from the beach to their burrows after a long day at sea. There is a stop for dinner (own expense) before returning to Melbourne.
The Great Ocean Road is one of the world’s great drives, a dramatic, powerful, dangerous and majestic coastline, also known as the Shipwreck Coast. Your day on the Great Ocean Road extends from Geelong through Anglesea and Lorne. You will arrive at approximately 10.30am in Lorne or at 12.00 noon in Apollo Bay and the remainder of the day is free to explore this coastal town
You will be collected this morning at 10.30am from Lorne or 12.00 noon from Apollo Bay. After your lunch stop you continue on through the Otway National Park, to the rugged beauty of the Twelve Apostle National Park and the Twelve Apostles themselves, are there really twelve? Afterwards to Loch Ard Gorge and Port Campbell shaped by the wild Southern Ocean this coastline will not fail to impress. Return to Melbourne tonight at approximately 7.30pm
