Route: Culture & Traditional Cruise from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap via Kratié

We will meet on Phnom Penh port at 7:30am. After embarking Le Tamarin, you will first be guided to your cabin, then an introduction to the ship and its crew will be presented to you. Our journey will start with some navigation to S’ang on the Bassac River. In S’ang, visit the country sights amid orchards, sugarcane fields and bamboo plantations. Local small boat will take you to visit the local floating market. Back on board for having lunch and to head towards Koh Dec Chau, another island, with noodles as a specialty. Visit the island its school and of course find out how locals make the noodles. Dinner on board during navigation to Koh Dach. All meals on board.
Early departure to visit Koh Dach, a little island in the middle of the Mekong, well-known for its silk-weaving villages and is an oasis of tranquility. See people weaving silk on hand looms and also dying it. Find out how the silk is transformed into thread, try by yourself and wander around the village. Back on board to cruise towards Kampong Cham. Enjoy the laid back atmosphere in this little town with plenty of colonial French charm before going back to our ship to start our navigation towards Kratié. All meals on board.
Early morning, excursion on pirogues to try to observe the fresh water dolphins of the Mekong. After that passenger will be able to enjoy a city tour of Kratié. Back on board for lunch and navigation towards Chhlong. Little town with remaining colonial buildings and the “1 000 pillars house”. Stop-off in the 1916 Chhlong posthouse, built by Chinese merchants.All meals on board.
Visit of Wat Hanchey, a temple located at the top of a hill that enjoys stunning views of the surrounding area. Wat Hanchey dates from the 7th or 8th century, before the glory days of the Khmer Empire but it is still a thriving religious site, home to many young monks. Back on board for lunch and navigation towards Kamong Dombrei. All meals on board.
In Kampong Dombrei is the opportunity to see the original Khmer lifestyle in rural areas. It is a calm village by the banks of the Mekong where people still live like in the good old days. This excursion will be like a travel in time experience as time seemed to have stopped in this village. Back on board for having lunch and cruising to Koh Chen. Superb little island with craftsmen whose trades have not change for centuries. Visit of the island, its school and its craftsmen workshops before heading to Oudong capital. Dinner on board while sailing towards Oudong.
In Oudong, capital of the country from 1618 to 1866, is a striking summing up of the History of Cambodia with stupas, royal tombs, a Buddha statue and the memorial for the victims of the Genocide. Visit the ancient capital in the morning, then back on board to navigate towards Kampong Tralach where we will have a lunch with the inhabitants. In Kampong Tralach stroll through the paddy fields to visit the Wat Vihara and visit the charming little school. Dinner on board.
Visit of Kampong Chhnang, a busy little harbor on the Tonle Sap which gets its name from the pottery workshops. Their production is sold throughout Cambodia. A small local boat will come get you and you will visit the pottery workshops, a place where sugar cane is made and also local alcohol. Stroll along the local market. Then back on board for lunch and navigation to Chnok Tru. Visit of the floating village of Chnok Tru on small boats and a bee farm. Chnok Tru is a seldom visited village where Vietnamese originated fishermen live in complete autarky. Back on board Le Tamarin for the cruise closing dinner.
The Tonle Sap, main Lake of Cambodia, with waters rising from 2 to 11 meters and a surface quadrupled between August and January. According to the water level, the crossing will be by speed boat or bus.During the crossing of the lake enjoy an easy life on board until arrival. We will be across the Lake around 12 am, and then you will be transferred to Siem Reap city center at FCC Angkor Hotel.
