Welcome to Vietnam! On arrival at the airport, you will be pick up and transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, take a rickshaw ride rambling through the maze of Hanoi’s old quarter. Enjoy the morning drive to Hoabinh and visit Muong and Dao villages along the way then continue to Maichau, the home of white Thai ethnic minority. Enjoy lunch at the tribe’s traditional house on stilts, followed by an orientation walking tour to nearby villages for learning of Thai’s farming techniques and experience the Thai tribe’s cultures. Tonight, the special treat is a local dinner and be our guest at a special folk dance. Overnight in Mai Chau.
After breakfast with Thai people in Mai Chau, we will drive 38km from Mai Chau to Xa Linh for 2 hours trek to the village of the H’Mong people, get into one of their home for a tea break and learn about their indigenous culture and lifestyle. Then we will continue to green Moc Chau plateau, the main providing area for vietnam green tea market. After check in your hotel in Son La, our tour guide will take you on an orientation tour and we also visit to Son la Prison, built by French in the beginning of 20th for detaining Vietnamese Revolutionaries. Today we leave Son La for Dien Bien Phu, the battlefield where the French had defeated in 1954, the end point of Vietnam – French War, along the way we will have plenty of opportunities to interact with the Black Thai, white Thai, H’mong and the Dao minotities. In the afternoon, we will visit Dien Bien Phu Museum, A1 Hill, the center of attack and the bunker of General Decarte. Overnight in Dien Bien Phu.
Phong Tho After breakfast we drive to Phong Tho. This is a remote area and as a result some of the roads will be fairly rough and uneven. Yet this is to our advantage as there will be fewer visitors to spoil our views of the beautiful and dramatic scenery which we encounter along the way. Once we reach Phong Tho we will visit a local market. This market is becoming popular with visitors that make the extra effort getting here, as it is one of the most colorful markets in Vietnam. After your breakfast at your hotel, we will continue our trip to Sapa, the land of clouds and mountains. On the way you will see the main entrance to Fansipan Mount, the highest peak in Indochina and also the Silver Waterfall. After check in to the hotel, you can explore the town’s market or Catcat village, the village of the Black H’mong tribe. Overnight in Sapa.
Today, enjoy your breakfast at hotel and leave Sapa for Bacha where a lot of different tribe’s people in their beautiful outfits are gathered for the Sunday Market. Stroll around this colorful market for some Kodak moments and return to Lao Cai station for the overnight train to Hanoi. On the way, visit King Mong Palace and pause at the border gate between Vietnam and China to see traders exchange their wares. The balance of the day is free at leisure before embarking the train.
